Company Presentation
The Aktau office is the operational nerve centre of the Company, presently staffed by the General Director, Commercial Director and operational support team. Black llp Head Office is located in Almaty, staffed by the Company Chairman and Financial Director, accounting team and administrative support staff.
BLACK LLP owns and operates a small fleet of specialised vessels including:
- The Self-Elevating Platform (SEP) “Black Pearl”, a multipurpose accommodation platform, capable to house 45 persons (including crew) in new, well appointed and comfortable facilities. The facilities include a spacious galley and fully equipped office for Client personnel. The SEP is fully compliant with the zero discharge requirements of the northeast Caspian Sea;
- The fast workboat “Black Urchin”, a shallow draft work-horse perfectly suited to perform errands between the offshore facilities and offshore support vessels, capable to carry 9 crew and passengers or 3.5 tons of cargo;
- The shallow draft survey vessel “Black Oyster”, acquired in 2008 presently undergoing an extensive refit.;
- An extensive fleet of airboats (single and double hull) for the TZ work in the northern Caspian Sea;
- In addition, BLACK llp owns and manages tailor-made containers (accommodation, workshops, stores, reefers, IMO tanks) for rental.
The Director, a Kazakhstan national, also acting as Operations Manager, is fully certified as Captain, and has worked for over 11 years in the north Caspian waters in various Officer positions on different types of workboats. His responsibilities include management and control of the daily vessel operations and reporting of the fleet’s assets.
Expatriate Commercial Manager also based in Aktau, and having worked for 10 years in Kazakhstan as Project Manager and Managing Director for international companies (dredging and marine), has recently joined the company to set-up the commercial activities for the company. In addition, he is involved in setting up a fully integrated Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental (QHSE) Department.
BLACK llp is committed to local content through employment where qualifications of personnel meet international maritime requirements, and purchasing from local suppliers where the quality of goods meet or exceed the standards required for their application. The company is also actively training local personnel in an effort to further increase local content.
At present the company employs 35 persons, the majority of whom are employed as marine crew offshore, broken down as follows:
- Kazakhstan nationals – 28
- CIS nationals – 6 (Captains, Chief Engineers, Chief Cook)
- Other nationals (with Kazakhstan residence) – 1
