The shallow waters of the North East Caspian are littered with recent significant oil discoveries. The Kashagan field is the largest oilfield discovered in the area. It is currently estimated that the field holds up to 38 billion barrels of oil-in-place of which 9-11 billion are potentially recoverable. In the Kazakhstan sector, apart from Kashagan, other discoveries include Kashagan SW, Aktote, Kairan, Kalamkas, and Pearls. These oilfields are large by international standards, but still considerably smaller than the giant Kashagan field, considered to be the most important oil discovery since Prudhoe Bay in Alaska’s North Slope in 1968. Offshore exploration of other potential structures continues, the overall hydrocarbons-in-place (Kazakhstan sector) could exceed 50 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

Development of this resource represents a complex combination of coordinated offshore and onshore activities including survey, construction and commissioning, drilling, development and production, most of which are in their infancy. Our company aims to serve the development.
